GET “3 WAYS TO FEEL BETTER AFTER YOUR BRAIN INJURY”
You have the power to change your life without changing your circumstances.
When I found out I had experienced a stroke, I was devastated
I was 30 years old, with 2 young children.
My physical and emotional symptoms overtook my life.
Depression, anxiety, frustration and overwhelm were my constant companions.
I tried to act normal in front of my friends and family. But that’s hard when my “normal” didn’t feel normal anymore.
I felt so much shame and embarrassment because of the stroke. I was desperate to be the person I was before the stroke. My relationships were suffering and I absolutely hated who I was.
It wasn’t until my sister made an appointment for me with a Life Coach that things started to turn around for me.
I was finally able to find some relief.
I was able to see what I was doing to myself. I had created so much shame about who I was as a stroke survivor. I realized the stroke didn’t create that for me, I did.
Before coaching I felt like I had lost my value and worth. I felt like people didn’t like “post-stroke Julie” because I didn’t like myself. I hated the stroke and who I was because of it. But coaching turned all of that around for me. I moved from a place of self loathing to empowerment.
I finally realized that I didn’t need to get rid of the stroke symptoms to feel better.
I was giving the stroke so much power. Coaching helped me take my power back, and I found out how to turn my loss into a strategy for growth.
I learned to see myself as stronger because of what I’d been through instead of using it as a reason to stop dreaming.
I created a new life using small, manageable steps and techniques that made sense to me. And 10 years later when I was hit by a skier and got a concussion, I was able to use all these amazing tools and my recovery was so easy because I knew how to use the concussion for my gain. And again, I become stronger because of it.
Because of Life Coaching, I truly believe the stroke gave me superpowers.
The changes I experienced were so profound, that I became a Certified Life Coach and it’s now my mission to show stroke and concussion survivors exactly how to do what I’ve done.
